The different modalities MBS Massage provides are as follows:
Swedish
The goal of this massage modality is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by “rubbing” the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Other techniques include circular friction applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading and stretching.
Deep Tissue
This technique is used for targeting knots and releasing chronic muscle tightness, reducing inflammation, and helping to prevent and eliminate scar tissue. Focusing on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and fascia, this technique employs the use of more intense movements such as deep finger pressure and the use of elbows and forearms. The intensity may be slightly uncomfortable and may result in some soreness that might last a couple of days before the desired relaxation and pain relief are felt.
Hot Stone Massage
This modality utilizes the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body to allow for deeper relaxation of the muscles. This massage is ideal for muscular aches, back pain, stress & anxiety, poor circulation, and rheumatic & arthritic conditions.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are tight areas within the muscle tissue that cause pain in other areas of the body. For example, a trigger point in the back may cause pain in the neck. Trigger points are caused my muscle overuse or injury. Trigger point massage is designed to alleviate the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. A significant decrease in pain is often found after just one treatment.
Sports Massage
Geared toward athletes of all kinds, this modality is specific to the athlete’s sport of choice. Benefits of this massage include enhancing pre-event preparation, reducing post-event recovery time, promote flexibility, reduce fatigue, and help prevent injuries.
